All About WWE Clash of Champions 2020
Another annual PPV event of WWE, i.e. Clash of Champions 2020 is going to take place on 27th Sep 2020. In 2016 WWE had organized the first Clash of Champions event (which actually replaced Night of Champions). Earlier the event used to feature only RAW superstars but this year, both the brands of WWE, i.e. RAW and SmackDown will participate in the PPV event.
The Clash of Champions has the very same concept as Night of Champions, and at the PPV, all the major WWE titles are defended.
The event will feature the biggest superstars including- Roman Reigns (Universal Champion), Drew McIntyre (WWE Champion), AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy (Intercontinental Champion), Bobby Lashley (United States Champion, Asuka (RAW Women’s Champion), Bayley (SmackDown Women’s Champion), etc.
WWE Clash of Champions 2020 will be live aired on 27th September 2020 from Amway Centre, Orlando. Like other PPVs of WWE, this event can be watched on the official network of WWE.
WWE Clash of Champions Confirmed Match Cards 2020
Check out the confirmed match cards of WWE Clash of Champions 2020 going to take place on 27th September, Sunday.
1. Nikki Cross vs. Bayley (c): A singles match for WWE Women’s SmackDown Championship
Things between Bayley and Sasha Banks have drastically changed now, and Bayley had turned violent on her former friend. For Bayley, the main story involved other great things other than WWE Clash of Champions. But at the PPV, it is required that every title should be defended. For Nikki and Bayley, things have changed a lot. Bayley’s vicious assaults on Banks and Alexa Bliss, who is the tag team partner of Cross getting affected by the communication with The Fiend, is the reason behind it.
To determine Bayley’s challenger for the title, a Fatal Four-Way match was held on 11th Sep SmackDown’s Episode between Nikki Cross, Tamina, Alexa Bliss, and Lacey Evans. Cross was the winner of the game and now ready to face Bayley at Clash of Champions for WWE Women’s SmackDown Championship.
Bayley and Cross barely talk to each other, and both are already preoccupied with their stories with Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss, respectively. Despite all this, Bayley vs. Cross is happening.
In July, Nikki had already challenged the title; this includes a match at The Extreme Rules.
Winner Prediction: Bayley will retain the title and later we are hopeful Sasha Banks will take her revenge by challenging Bayley in a title match.
2. Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre (c) For WWE Championship: An Ambulance Match
Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton is going to happen one more time. Drew is all set to defend his title at Clash of Champions 2020. Since SummerSlam 2020, a lot of issues have been prevailing between the two RAW superstars.
At SummerSlam, Drew had defeated Randy after 20 minutes of back and forth action match. The brawl between them soon ignited at the following RAW edition, where Orton fractured Drew’s jaws by punting him on his head. On WWE RAW 7th September 2020, Drew hit Orton with three Claymores and sent him out of the arena in an ambulance.
Orton grabbed the opportunity of a rematch between these two separate attacks by winning a triple threat match in which he had faced Keith Lee and Seth Rollins.
In recent weeks both have injured each other brutally, and it is questionable whether the match will happen for real or not? With their recent interaction on the latest episode of RAW 21st September 2020, it is clear that both are ready to face each other at WWE Clash of Champions.
We can expect a brutal fight as both will intend to obliterate each other and move the opponent out in the ambulance and close its door to win the match.
Winner Prediction: Randy Orton is likely to WIN and become the new WWE Champion.
3. Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy: A Triple Threat Ladder Match for Intercontinental Championship
Intercontinental Championship is also on the along with the other Clash of Champions confirmed match cards 2020. And we are sure that this one will be the show-stealer.
Sami Zayn didn’t show up on SmackDown for several weeks. Meanwhile, AJ Styles won the tournament for crowing the new Intercontinental Champion.
Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles have issues between them, which are yet unresolved. Things heated up between them when Jeff used a knee brace during the match and won the championship by using it as a weapon.
When Zayn showed up with the Intercontinental Championship belt, which he never actually lost, he attacked both Styles and Hardy in a title match. After such attacks, Jeff Hardy officially issued a challenge for the Triple Threat Ladder Match at WWE Clash of Champions. All three of them calling themselves the champion though officially, the title is with Jeff Hardy at present. In a ladder match, things will finally settle.
Winner Prediction: AJ Styles is like to take both the titles of Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy.
4. Apollo Crews vs. Bobby Lashley (c) For US Championship Title
Since June 2020, Apollo had only wrestled with the members of The Hurt Business. Apollo had not got a chance for the rematch after Bobby had defeated him at the WWE Payback 2020. The rivalry between both is ongoing from months. Now it has taken up to a new level as Cedric Alexander has become a member of The Hurt Business and Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, and MVP. Alexander was earlier close friends with Apollo Crews, but now he had changed allegiance.
Lashley captured the US Championship, winning in a match against Apollo Crews back at WWE Payback. Now, this Sunday, Crews had got a chance for a rematch. Lashley retaining the championship might seem like the most obvious choice, but if Crews wins the match, it will open a path for him to challenge Cedric Alexander for the title.
Prediction: Apollo Crews might be the new US Champion.
5. Lucha House Party (Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik and Kalisto) vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke and Nakamura: For WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship, a two on three handicap match
Both of the teams are not having any significant issues with them. Nakamura and Cesaro had recently undergone a two-week brand crossover program.
It was with The Street Profits, and ever since Kalisto had returned, The Lucha House Party has been seen dealing with the internal tensions. The SmackDown tag division is struggling, and there is a shortage of challengers. Therefore, this match becomes the ideal one for the PPV so that all the titles get defended.
Prediction: Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura might retain their SmackDown Tag Team titles.
6. Zelina Vega vs. Asuka: For WWE RAW Women’s Championship a Singles Match (Kickoff Match)
Zelina Vega has become an active wrestler after she is tired of fighting between Angel Garza and Andrade. At WWE RAW 14th September 2020, Vega interrupted with the Asuka promo and shared her wish to challenge her for the title. At RAW 21st September 2020, Zelina bagged the chance to match Asuka at Clash of Champions by defeating Mickie James.
So far, nine matches are confirmed for the PPV, and this one is declared to be a Kickoff match and will take place before the main PPV gets live aired. Asuka will be defending her title against Zelina, which will be the first time in the career of Zelina she will take part in a title match.
It isn’t very pleasant for WWE fans to have this match on the Kickoff show. Hopefully, Zelina gets enough time in the Kickoff show to use full capability and put herself as an authorized contender for the RAW Women’s Championship.
Match Prediction: Asuka will retain the Raw Women’s Championship.
7. The Riott Squad vs. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (c): For WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship a Tag Team Match
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler had won the titles from Bayley and Sasha Banks after defeating them in a rematch. Further, The Riott Squad had a couple of handicap matches with Nia and Shayna in which Liv Morgan pinned Baszler in the first match. The Squad’s match with Nia was interrupted by The Retribution. The Riott Squad has earned this opportunity by being the only tag team who had interacted with the Jax and Baszler.
At the Clash of Champions, we have three tag team matches. Among all this, one is a unique one that WWE fans have not seen before. The pairing of Jax and Shayna might be new as the champions, but the way they defeated Bayley and Banks, the former champions can’t be ignored.
One core reason behind disputes between Bayley and Banks is that both lost their tag titles to Nia and Shayna. By defeating The IIconics, Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan had this opportunity of the title match.
Prediction: The Riott Squad are favorites to be the winner and might become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
8. Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (c) For WWE Universal Championship: (Main Event at Clash of Champions 2020)
WWE SummerSlam 2020 had a tagline: “You Will Never See It Coming.” WWE stands by its motto by having a surprising entry of Roman Reigns in the PPV. One week after the SummerSlam, Reigns won a Triple Threat Match against Bray Wyatt (Universal Champion) and Braun Strowman (former champion) and became the new Universal Champion at Payback 2020.
Reigns needed a new challenger after his win. For doing something out of the box and handling things differently from how RAW choose Drew’s challenger, Paul Heyman and Reigns said at WWE SmackDown 4th September 2020 that a four-way match will be there. The fight was between Matt Riddle, King Corbin, Sheamus, and Big E,
As Sheamus moved out Big E before the match, it gave a chance to Jey Uso to enter the game, and ultimately he won the fight and became the Number one contender for the Universal Championship. Jey Uso will face his brother Roman Reigns at Clash of Champions for the title.
There has been a significant increase in Reigns’ confidence and dominance in the recent week, and now he is all set to defend his title against his cousin brother Jey Uso.
Match Prediction: Roman Reigns will continue to be the Universal Champion
9. Angel Garza and Andrade vs. The Street Profits (c): For WWE RAW Tag Team Championship a Tag Team Match
Earlier WWE had no place to have this match on the card at the PPV. Angel Garza and Andrade get their shot by winning the No. 1 contender match on WWE RAW 21st September 2020. They defeated Murphy and Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo. A week earlier, Garza and Andrade had few disputes between them, but it appears that both have resolved them before winning the match.
The issues between both the team are from the WrestleMania 36. Things didn’t work as expected at that PPV, and Andrade got injured, and unfortunately, he could not fight that night. In his place, Austin Theory showed up. At SummerSlam, we have seen Garza and Andrade joining the force again to get RAW Tag Team Titles.
We hope all four-man perform their level best and show us a fantastic match.
Prediction: The Street Profits are likely to be the winner and retain their titles.
Here we conclude WWE Clash of Champions confirmed match cards and winner predictions. WWE fans are very excited about this upcoming PPV event.
